The organisations listed below all have web sites that are chockfull of information, and are committed to marine biodiversity and sustainable fishing. We fish-lovers are confused about which are the plentiful fish we can eat and which are the endangered fish that we should not eat.

Habitat Media is a non-profit organization specializing in the production of media that educate viewers about the need forsustainable development of ocean environments.

International Council for Exploration of the Sea (ICES) coordinates and promotes marine research in the North Atlantic. ICES is a meeting point for a community of more than 1600 marine scientists from 19 countries around the North Atlantic.

MarineBio.org uses the power of the Internet to inspire humankind to embrace a sea ethic by providing education on the beauty and wonder of marine life and by increasing knowledge of the threats that face it.

Mother Jones is an independent nonprofit whose roots lie in a commitment to social justice implemented through first rate investigative reporting. The March/April 2006 issue of Mother Jones magazine features an extensive cover package focusing on the ocean.

National Coalition for Marine Conservation (NCMC), based in Virginia, is the USA's oldest public advocacy group dedicated exclusively to conserving the world's ocean fish and their environment.  

Oceana organizes campaigns dedicated to restoring and protecting the world's oceans through policy advocacy, science, law and public education.

Pro Peninsula is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering communities and organizations on the Baja California peninsula to protect and preserve their environment.

SeaWeb
SeaWebs is a communications-based nonprofit organization that uses social marketing to advance ocean conservation. The SeaWeb team is composed of experienced individuals from a wide variety of fields, including biology, policy, exploration, communications and marketing.

On their site you will fins up-to-date news on the state of the world's oceans and fisheries.

The National Environmental Trust
The "Take a pass on Chilean Sea Bass" is their line and just one more thread in the mighty NET. This campaign and more can be found at MarineConservation.net. "Chefs Spotlight" celebrates enviro chefs.

The Ocean Conservancy
The Ocean Conservancy is a US-based group providing advocacy and research about topics from fish stock conservation to pollution.


The Bill Fish Foundation
The Bill Fish Foundation is a non-profit organization with a very clear objective: The conservation and enhancement of billfish populations worldwide through scientific research, education and advocacy.

The Marine Fish Conservation Network (Network) is a coalition of over 170 national and regional environmental organizations, commercial and recreational fishing groups, aquariums, and marine science groups dedicated to conserving marine fish and to promoting their long-term sustainability.
